Looking to brighten up your home with some original art? If so, check out Nepenthe Gallery, a fantastic new neighborhood art gallery and framing shop conveniently located in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center. Nepenthe became part of our local landscape in March and has become a mecca for community art lovers, neighbors, and friends. It’s a great location to purchase, view, and appreciate art that ranges from world-famous pieces to local artist displays. It’s also fun to meet other art lovers at one of the gallery’s frequent events.
Nepenthe’s success is driven by its warm and engaging proprietors, Carrie and Jim Garland, who opened the business with an eye toward spreading joy throughout the community. The name “Nepenthe” literally means “a place of no sorrow,” explains Carrie. It’s a place where people can come to forget their worries and enjoy art in a variety of wide-ranging and frequently changing styles. Nepenthe also provides an outlet for local artists to both display and sell their personal masterpieces.
For those who want to buy, Carrie and Jim will even bring the art to your home so you can see how it looks before making any decisions, or you can take home a piece to try it out!
Most Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. you can enjoy Nepenthe’s ART + WINE + CHEESE events. Check out their website for details: NepentheGallery.com, and also check out our video that explores everything Nepenthe has to offer.
