Trolling the various websites to find a good diner in the area for Sunday brunch, Angela and I stumbled upon a clip from the hit Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives that featured Metro 29 in Arlington. Though Angela had been there before (and liked it), I hadn’t, so we made the cross-town trek Sunday morning to grab some grub.
In a nutshell, if you’re looking for a standout diner in the area, Metro 29 is a great choice. From eggs, bacon, and toast, to tasty BLTs, excellent French fries, and a whole bakery’s worth of goodies, it’s one of those places discriminating diner devotees need to check out.
Around the D.C. area, there a bunch of diners to choose from, and many of them serve excellent food with excellent service. The thing most noticeable about Metro 29—aside from the great service and great menu selections—was the fact that the ingredients they use are simply top quality. The coffee: very hot, rich, delicious “diner”-style. The bacon: thick, meaty, and crispy, just the way we like it. Fresh toasted bread, substantial portions, and eggs cooked exactly to order.
But check it out for yourself—from great breakfasts to dinner entrees that easily garner “gourmet” status, such as New York strip steak, pork chops, and a whole ocean of fresh seafood.
Visit their website and drop by 4711 Lee Highway in Arlington. You’ll see why Guy Fieri liked the place—and you will too!
