Offer your support for our military heroes and get a patriotic jump start on fall fitness by entering the 5K Family Run/Walk at Cameron Run Park in Alexandria set for Sept. 20! My chapter of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Kavanaugh#54 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Operation Homefront Mid-Atlantic are organizing the event to support wounded warrior caregivers.
All funds raised for this event go to Operation Homefront, a nonprofit organization created in 2002 to support families with service members deployed after Sept. 11, 2001. It serves military families in 43 states. Visit the Operation Homefront website for more information.
This event promotes a great cause–helping support the heroes that take care of our wounded military heroes—and it also promises to be an enjoyable community event that will include a raffle, giveaways, and music. There you can give us the thumbs up and share this post and the page with all your Facebook friends! And you don’t even need an ice bucket to support for this charity!
DCRegionRealEstate.com is a “Support the Caregivers” organizational sponsor. You can support the effort as an individual entrant. Register online for $25 (adults 16 years old or older). Children (5 to 15 years old) are $10. Families may register for a $60 flat fee. There is an optional 5K medal fee for individuals who want a medal for finishing the walk/run.
Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. at the race site at 4001 Eisenhower Ave., Alexandria, VA. Race time is 8 a.m.
Formed more than 100 years ago, Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the “oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas.” Their focus is on charity and working “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow, or sickness.” Visit their website for more information.
